Summer in the Philippines brings intense heat, long road trips, and increased strain on vehicles. Whether you're heading to the beach, visiting relatives, or simply commuting under the scorching sun, preventing a vehicle breakdown should be a top priority. With proper preparation and regular maintenance, you can significantly reduce the risk of being stranded on the road.

Radiator and Coolant

One of the most important things to check before traveling is your vehicle’s cooling system. High temperatures can easily cause engines to overheat, especially in heavy traffic. Make sure your radiator is filled with the correct coolant level and inspect hoses for cracks or leaks. It’s also wise to clean the radiator and ensure that the cooling fan is functioning properly. Engine Oil

Battery

Tires

Check your tire pressure early in the morning when tires are still cool, and make sure it matches the recommended level in your vehicle’s manual. Inspect the tread for wear and ensure there are no visible cracks or bulges. Don’t forget to check your spare tire as well—you never know when you might need it.  Tires generally are considered old if 5 yrs old.  For out of town driving this Summer, make sure you are not using tires more than 5 years old.

Brakes

Brake systems should also be in top condition, especially if you plan to travel long distances or drive through mountainous areas. Listen for unusual noises and pay attention to how your brakes feel. Fluids
